EMDR (Eye movement, desensitization and reprocessing)
EMDR was discovered by Francine Shapiro, PhD psychologist at the end of the 1980’s in California.
Quite often, after a psychological trauma, information relating to the trauma cannot be processed by the brain and thus never becomes part of the individual’s real-life experience, and remains a source of distress.
The eye movements made by the client help to hasten the processing of information in the brain. In this way the current symptoms and lack of self-esteem which are both related to past events and present conditions of life can improve.
