Marital Therapy
Marital therapy tries to solve problems and conflicts that partners have not been able to solve on their own.
The systemic approach privileges the study of the interactions between the two members of the couple in order to help them overcome their relationship difficulties.
In this approach emotions are seen as the main tool for resolving a relationships in distress. It is emotion which organizes our “attachment behaviours” and which directs and motivates our communication and needs.
Its aim is :
- To help the two partners understand themselves and each other better.
- To re-establish a more satisfying communication.
Jane Lovell trained with Marianne Walters, who was director at the Philadelphia Child and Family Therapy Training Center.
